The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology announces today the following senior-level appointments.

Director of Public Affairs - Dr Priscilla Chin4 CHUNG &k&
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr Chung holds' a BA in Oriental Studies and a PhD in History. She has taught at the University of Pennsylvania, City College of New York, and the -I.!ni\-ersity of Hawaii. In 1980, she was appointed Special Assistant to the President for International Programmes at the University of Hawaii. She later served as Director of the Office of Public Affairs, an office she helped
plan and establish. ,
Leaving the academic world in 1983, she accepted a position with the Kang Computer China Ltd, a subsidiary of Wang Laboratories, Inc. an American computer manufacturer. She currently holds the position of Assistant General rlangager of the company's joint venture in China.
Khile in the United States, Dr Chung was active in community affairs. She served as President of the Asian American Council

Carter to his presidential Commission 0; Foreign Language and International Studies. Khen she relocated to Honolulu, she \\:as appointed by the Governor of Hawaii as a member of t \i 0 Governor's Advisory Councils, and served as a consultant to the Hawaii-Guangdong Sister State Committee.

The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for the University's external relations including its international relations with other institutions and-agencies. The Office will handle media relations and publications, and .'&ovide support to the University in fund raising.

lhlr Flichael Hudson joins,, HKUST following 7 years at the University of Hong Kong where he was responsible for the capital building programme.
7 see the Estates Management Office playing an active role in the design, construction, and commissioning of the HKUST buildings and in the longer term being responsible for the efficient management- of the facilities which will serve academics, administrators, and students alike."
Mr Hudson was born in York, England, in 1948 and obtained a Higher National Diploma in Building at Leeds Polytechnic. He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Building in the UK and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is currently completing a part-time MC at the University of Reading, UK. He brings with him 20 years of construction and management experience gained with contractors, consultants, and client organizations in the UK, Africa, and the Far East.
He married Jean in 19i4 after a six-month overland trip from Europe to Southern Africa and they have li.t*ed'in Hong Kong since
1980. He plays tennis and attempts golf. _.
