Home Affairs Secretary to Share

Experience with HKUST Students

Michael M. Y. Suen, Secretary for Home Affairs of the Hong Kong Government, will join local business leaders at a career forum for students on 1 March 1997. The event is co-organized by the Careers Centre of the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology and the Lions Club of Metropolitan Hong Kong.

Mr Suen, who is also Honorary President of the Lions Club, will officiate at the opening ceremony and participate in discussion of the civil service as a career track.

Senior business executives and professionals who are members of the Lions Club will also meet with students to share their work

experiences and views of recent developments and employment trends in the industries they represent.

"Many of our members have accumulated more than 20 years of experience in business. By meeting with aspiring young leaders, we hope to help them clarify their career inspiration," says Gregg Li, 3rd Vice President of the Club.

"Business education goes beyond the campus," says Luke Wong, Director of the Student Affairs Office at HKUST. "By encouraging students to communicate directly with business leaders in various sectors, we are in fact building a bridge between the business community and the university."
