New Degree in Information Systems Management

A new master's degree in information systems management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will provide aspiring professionals with ample opportunities for career

advancement. Applications are now being accepted for entry to the program in the spring semester. "The program is a response to the surging demand for information technology professionals who are well equipped in both technical and management skills," says Dr Kar Yan Tam, deputy head of the Department of Information and System Management (ISMT).

Students will be exposed not only to technical topics but also to emerging fields such as electronic commerce, multimedia and telecommunications policy.

To be eligible for the program, applicants should possess a bachelor's degree, a satisfactory GRE or GMAT score, as well as two to three years' relevant working experience. A formal computing background is not required. Candidates with basic computer knowledge, who satisfy the entry requirements, are welcome to apply.

The MSc in Information Systems Management is offered by the ISMT Department in the School of Business and Management. The two-year program will be offered primarily on a part-time basis.
