Being an astronaut is not as easy as we common people usually think. To live and work around 400 kilometers above the Earth, they have to make adjustments and overcome a great number of 38 difficulties in their daily routines, such as eating, exercising, and sleeping.

To begin with, because of the extremely low 39 in space, food will float in the air if not fixed onto the desk. Thus, they put magnets to stick utensils to the desk. What’s more,

40 it damages air vents and on-board computers, it is forbidden to have powdered

condiments in the cabin. To solve the problems, all flavorings are 41 to the liquid form. Second, it’s important for astronauts to exercise more regularly to prevent muscles from shrinking and the vision from getting affected. It is microgravity that makes body fluid pushed to the upper parts of the body, which causes bad 42 of our body and pressured our eyes. What’s worse, muscles 43 in size when not needed to support human bodies which weigh little in space. Do astronauts come down with an illness in space? The answer is absolutely yes, though they are already among the healthiest and fittest people on Earth. 48 What they need to do is receive a strict training, undergo detailed examination, and even keep themselves in

quarantine before they are assigned to set up their journey to the space. 49 Seeing that space missions all cost a great fortune, astronauts up in space can’t just pop down to Earth to see a doctor. So, what can they do when getting an illness?

One of the most common sicknesses an astronaut may have is space adaption syndrome (SAS). SAS is similar to seasickness in space, and is caused by the zero gravity. 50 People with SAS may have lots of symptoms, including vomiting, which is a nightmare to deal with for astronauts. 51 It is used to help astronauts “catch” their puke and clean themselves. What if an astronaut gets a cold or a flu? Well, it’s rare for astronauts to have a cold due to the previous quarantine before spaceflight. The likelihood of being exposed to a pathogen in space is rare. But if they do come down with a cold or sniffle, what should they do? Don’t worry. 52 Therefore, astronauts with a cold or a sniffle just need to be patient and wait it out.

It is going to be disappointing news for cat-lovers: Men who like cats are less likely to go on a date with a woman. According to the study by Colorado State University, there is a relatively low possibility for women to swipe right— or says yes— to men if they are posing a picture with a cat. Shown photos of two men with and without a furry companion, the women responded that the willingness to go out with the man got apparently declined when women saw the picture with a cat. When shown the cat-free picture of subject A, 38% of women said they were likely to date him; however, after they saw a picture of the same man holding a cat, the number slid to 33%. Meanwhile, the proportion of women saying they'd never consider getting involved with him rose from 9% to 14%.

By comparison, positive ratings for the second man, subject B, did not go down

significantly when he was pictured with a cat, but they were more likely to hang out with him casually instead of considering a serious relationship with him. Worse yet, the percentage of the unlikeliness to date with him increased by 5. A total of 708 women aged between 18 and 24 were surveyed in the online experiment. The findings are likely the result of long-held cultural stereotypes about cat and dog owners, the authors said.

"It is important to note that these findings were influenced by whether the female viewer self-identified as a 'dog' or 'cat' person, suggesting that American culture has distinguished 'cat men' as less masculine, perhaps creating a cultural preference for 'dog men' among most heterosexual women in the studied age group," they wrote. "Women prefer men with 'good genes,' often defined as more masculine traits," they added, citing previous research. "Clearly, the presence of a cat diminishes that perception."

53. The graphs below show the surveyed women’s willingness to date with the two men, subject A and B, before and after they saw the two hold a cat in a picture. Which of the following graph is correct based on the above passage?

(B) Try to find different topics to break the ice and show off. Women like men with a lot of knowledge and a sense of humor.

(D) When chatting with women you like, you had better mention that you are a fan of cats.

Have you ever wondered what kind of food you eat every day? Some people have high consciousness of their daily diet while others just stuff themselves with whatever available. Although it is apparently improper for people to eat too much meat rather than vegetables, in the era of information explosion, it’s confusing for people to know how to take the first step and

make a change of their original lifestyle. Fortunately, now there is another selection for people to get their teeth into—being a flexitarian!

The core concept of a flexitarian diet lays in taking in plant-based foods and only consuming meat or fish one in a while. It seems to be a halfway house for those extremists like vegetarians or sports enthusiasts to achieve the goal of staying “real” healthy; however, it can provide people with another approach to make alterations to their eating habits. In addition to aiming to keep people healthy, its primary objective is to urge humans to protect the Earth and to slow down the speed of climate change. A study into the global food system and how it affects the climate has found that eating mainly plant-based foods is one key step towards a sustainable future for all by 2050. Dr Marco Springmann, one of the lead authors of the report from the University of Oxford, told the BBC “We really found that a combination of measures would be needed to stay within environmental limits and those include changes towards healthier more plant-based diets.”

Flexitarians believe eating meat once in a while is acceptable, and Dr. Marco Springmann, agrees – as long as we treat it as a luxury, it’s probably OK, but you shouldn’t have more than one serving of red meat per week.” And here’s another fact to digest: If we moved to this type of diet, the study found that greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture would be cut by more than half.

55. Which of the following statements may Dr. Marco agree on most? (A) Eat whatever you want every day if you suffer from depression. (B) To protect the Earth and keep in shape, you can only eat vegetables.

(C) Eating meat can be seen as a way of treating yourself, but it shouldn’t happen too often. (D) There is no accounting for taste. You don’t have to change your eating habit for any reason. 56. What does “get their teeth into” in the first paragraph mean?

(A) To be disappointed at. (B) To be different from. (C) To be unsatisfied with. (D) To be involved in. 57. Where is the passage most likely to be seen?

(A) A scientific journal. (B) A lifestyle magazine. (C) A financial report. (D) An issue of gardening.

chocolate, which brings happiness, we can hardly imagine there are some people in West Africa, such as Guano and the Ivory Coast, trapped in poverty due to the malfunction of the cocoa supply chain there.

The cocoa supply chain can be divided into three parts, just like a hour glass. The top part represents millions of farmers who produce cocoa, the middle part means a few multinational cocoa traders, and the bottom part is billions of chocolate consumers. The middle part is where it goes wrong. To profit from the business, a group of chocolate giants keep the coco

purchasing price so inhumanly low that the farmers cannot improve the quality of their crop and the professionality of its operation. Furthermore, with the poverty trap caused by the unfair farm gate price for cocoa, up to 90% of these children there—more than 2 million children— need to help their parents collect the cocoa pods after school. Sometimes many of them are not able to continue their study but forced to do heavy manual work, not to mention being exposed to the chemical and injurious pesticides. Worse yet, some innocent children are the victims of human trafficking as well. Their parents send their children to work for some at other places to earn money. However, it turns out that they have no way to visit their children, and even don’t know where their children end up.

Fortunately, as the Dutch chocolate company, Tony's Chocolonely's was informed the fact that no chocolate was guaranteed to be slave-free at the time in 2004, they decided to make a change for the whole cocoa industry: 100% slave free the norm in chocolate in response. The company knew that if they wanted to end the vicious circle, it is necessary to set an example of how the industry should be and could be. To reach the goal, it set up an Open Chain platform for farmers to share information and strategies so as to raise their awareness of their own crop. Moreover, a “recipe” has been designed and worked by the company for the plan. It involves five ingredients— traceable beans, higher price, strong farmers, the long term, and better quality and productivity.

“Money is just a means, not a goal, ever...” is how they begin their annual fair report. Despite the fact that the total sales in 2020 were below their target and that they incurred more costs than had been agreed in advance, they were still proud of the transition they have gone through. They truly prove that one’s success needs not come at the cost of the sacrifice of others.
