長期照護品質指標之穩定性探討:以健康功能為例
(NSC91-2416-H-110-021-SSS)
Because of chronic illness and conditions, an estimated 5.6% of Taiwan elderly
population need some kind of long-term care, and about one-third of these require
supportive assistance from another person to function in their daily lives. Therefore,
quality has become a salient issue in long-term care, particularly for long-term care
providers. In long-term care, however, the emphasis has been shifted on outcome
measures. Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation and Taiwan
Association of Long-Term Care Professionals have advocated use of multiple
outcome measures as key indicators suggesting the presence of good or bad care.
The aim of this research is to validate the measurement model of health status
and to examine the stability of the health status over time. The research questions are:
1) What are the health status of residents in long-term care facilities at three different
time points? 2) Can the measurement model be confirmed over the three-wave panel?
3) What is the relationship between individual characteristics and health status? 4)
After controlling for the effects of residents’characteristics, does stability of health
status exist over time? 5) Can the explanatory variables be predicting health status?
Using functional status as the indicator for health status, we found that the longer

The measurement model was confirmed by the three different time (chi-square >0.05).
However, since the cases of nursing home residents dropped over time, it is uncertain
to conclude the stability of this model. Based on this study’s results, some of
residents’ characteristics can predict health status, including severity of illness,
transferring, re-hospitalization. Age was not a significant indicator in predicting
