(A) Steven Spielberg is probably one of the most successful Hollywood directors of all time. His first success came at the age of 13 when he won a prize for a 40-minute war movie he made called

Escape to Nowhere. But it was a short, award-winning movie called Amblin' which got him

noticed. He first worked as a TV director but soon moved on to movies with much bigger budgets.

One of his first big films was Jaws, a movie about a terrifying man-eating shark. Other well-known titles directed by the movie legend include E.T., Jurassic Park, the Indiana Jones films, The Color

Purple, Amistad and A.I. Despite the enormous commercial success of his movies, Spielberg was

determined to be recognized as a "serious" director as well. He achieved this dream in 1993 when he won an Oscar for Schindler's List. He won another one five years later for Saving Private Ryan.

Both films were set in Europe during World War II. Although he has had many successes, there have also been a few flops along the way. His comedy, 1941, for instance, is considered one of the worst movies he has ever made. And, of course, not everyone enjoys Spielberg's movies. He has been criticized for being too commercial, and for relying too much on special effects. (B) The period of a child's life when he or she becomes an adult ─the teen years─ is a difficult time for many parents. As children get older it is natural for them to begin thinking about having a girlfriend or boyfriend. Whether parents like it or not, most teenagers will want to start dating sooner or later. In some cultures, dating in the teen years is a taboo. And in some cases their first ever 'date' is when they get married to someone that their parents have chosen. In the U.S. dating is generally considered to be an important part of growing up. Going on dates helps teens learn about friendship and love, as well as how to communicate with others and make decisions by themselves.

Parents often worry about all the terrible things that might happen on a date. However, studies have shown that dating actually helps teens become mature adults. Of course, parents need to make clear rules. The following is a typical list of basic dating rules: 1.No dating on a school night. 2. Be home before ten. 3. No alcohol or drugs. Some parents are much stricter than others. A father, for example, may not even allow his daughter to start dating until she goes to senior high school. How much freedom parents give their teenaged children to make their own decisions about dating often depends on the teens' age and maturity.
