The purpose of this research is an attempt to examine the relationship between depression tendency of college students and their quality of life. The present study is a cross-sectional and descriptive research. The research question will be addressed by quantitative approach and collected data by structured
questionnaire with three sections which are personal details, Ko’s Depression Inventory and WHOQOL-BREF. The objects of this study are 712 college students in a university from middle of Taiwan and 659 questionnaires were received finally.
The findings of this research show as below:
1. According to the distribution of depression tendency, 28 of 659 people (4.2%) are a sever one, 110 of 659 people (16.7%) are a moderate and light degree and the rest 521 people (79.1%) are no depression tendency.
2. The mean values are 15.88 (SD=2.11), 14.70 (SD=2.64), 15.00 (SD=2.60) and 14.91 (SD=2.06) for physical domain, psychological domain, social relationship domain and environmental domain respectively.
3. The students whose department is Computing & Information Department, part- time working hour is longer, money at his/ her disposal is lower and family has lower average monthly revenue, have more serious depression tendency.
4. College students whose department is Health Department, money at his/ her disposal is higher and family has higher average monthly revenue, have better quality of life.
5. Psychological domain is the most influential factor in the students’ depression tendency and followed by social relationship domain, physical domain and how much money at your disposal.
