CONSUMER PRICE INDEX

OCTOBER 2018

The Composite CPI increased by 3.35% year-on-year to 113.73, attributable to higher rentals for dwellings, dearer charges for eating out, rising parking meter rates as well as increasing prices of gasoline and women’s clothing.

The Composite CPI went up by 0.16% month-to-month. Price index of Clothing & Footwear showed an obvious increase on account of new arrival of winter clothing, footwear, etc. Higher charges for eating out, as well as rising prices of fresh fish, seafood and pork pushed up the price index of Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages;

yet, receding prices of vegetables tapered off part of the increase. On the other hand, price index of Recreation & Culture registered decrease due to lower charges for package tours.
