The purpose of this study was to explore the nursing Staff’s knowledge, attitude, and behavior toward hospice care in long-term care facilities in Taichung and Changhua. The results were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Cross-sectional and correlational design were used in this study. A structural questionnaire was give to 210 Staff.187 out of 210 were valid and response rate was 89%.The data collected were analyzed with descriptive statistical methods including percentage mean and standard deviation. deductive statistical methods including T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation
conefficient, and scheffe’s method.
The results showed(1)The score of knowledge about hospice care was58.71±6.45 with a correct rate of 56%.(total score:75);(2)The score of attitude toward hospice care was 48.56±5.50 (total score:60);(3) The score of the respondents were willing to participate behavior hospice care was33.61±4.21 (total score:40);(4) Knowledge of hospice care and assessment behavior for hospice care are positively
correlated Knowledge of hospice care and assessment behavior for hospice care are positively correlated.
Attitude toward elderly urinary-incontinence and behavior toward elderly hospice care are positively correlated.
The result of this study provides excellent references for clinical nursing practice, nursing administration and nursing education. It also helps to improve training in nursing care for hospice care and policy- making in long-term care facilities This may eventually lead to better nursing care quality for hospice care.
