A study of adolescent values in Taiwan and mainland China

This study explored values of early adolescents in China (P RC) and Taiwan (ROC). Tw o samples'of adolescents aged 13 to 15 were obtained , one in Taiwan and one in mainland China (Total N = 694). The subjects were administered Rokeach Value Survey (RVS) and the Quality of School Life (QSL) scale.

Findings:

1. Taiwan students ranked higher values associated with classical Confucian (儒 家)attitudes, while mainland Chinese students ranked higher values

associated with achievement (或說) and personal development.

2. Mainland Chinese students were found to rate significantly higher than Taiwan students the quality of schoollife.
