Title: Spectrum structure and behaviors of Vlasov-Poisson(Maxwell)-Boltzmann equations.

Abstract: We present the recent results on the spectrum structures of the Vlasov- Poisson(Maxwell)-Boltzmann equations and justify the influences of the electrostatic potential force, Lorentz force, and/or the mutual interaction between charged particles of differernt types. It is joint with Mingying Zhong and Tong Yang.

Title: The rigorous derivation of focusing NLS from quantum many-body evolutions

Abstract: The rigorous justification of mean-field type equations (Boltzmann, Vlasov- Poisson, NLS...) from the many-body systems they are supposed to describe is a vast and fundamental subject. In this talk, we talk about recent advances in this area on the derivation of focusing nonlinear Schrodinger equations (NLS) from quantum many- body evolutions in the context of Bose-Einstein condensation, which has been one of the most active areas of contemporary research since the Nobel prize winning experiments. We survey the background and the evolution of the results and techniques in the field during the talk.

Title: Polarization and Relaxation Effects Induced by Two-Scale Homogenization Abstract: Motivated by the two-scale convergence method introduced by G.

Nguetseng and G. Allaire, we study the polarization effect induced by homogenization. By way of Boltzmann-Poisson system, we characterize the mricroscopic properties of electrons in dielectric materials. The homogenized equations are obtained which describe the mean behaviors and we also get the modified Gauss law by way of polarization effect and the plasma frequency.
