二、教學目標 二、教學目標 (Objective)

1.認知面:[使學生理解、應用、分析、綜合、比較、推論、評估本課程之理論與概念]:

The objective of this course is to provide students with an introduction to designing well-balanced ESL/EFL (henceforth ESL) learning courses, thus enabling them to develop a deep understanding of the variables that determine the formulation of ESL learning course goals and the design of ESL courses in different educational settings.

2.技能面[使學生能獲得運用與實做本課程理論與概念之技巧]:

The course is designed to offer students an insight into how issues regarding ESL teaching and learning are addressed in scientific research. By the end of the course, students will have had the opportunity to become more familiar with research on ESL learning theories.

3.情意面[能引發學生對本課程之興趣,激發學生學習動機,增加觸類旁通與自主學習]:

The practice-based mode of instruction will not only consolidate basic knowledge on designing ESL learning environments, but also improve skills related to academic reading and writing.

The course consists of two main parts. The first part addresses ESL learning issues. Different approaches to ESL teaching are explored and factors affecting language acquisition are discussed. The second part discusses how to design ESL learning activities. Students will have an opportunity to learn more about how to make an ESL course well-balanced.
