Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to provide hand-on experiences for students to apply the theories of play and pediatric occupational therapy into practice. Specifically, students will be expected to think creatively regarding the design of playful and therapeutic activities by using the equipment or modalities that are commonly used in pediatric occupational therapy. The skills and experiences learned in this course will be helpful for students to treat children with development disabilities and further understand the theories of pediatric occupational therapy.

Course Objectives:

1. The student will learn how to design therapeutic play by using some most common equipment/modalities/toys.

2. The student will learn the function of some most common equipment/modalities/toys.

3. The student will learn how to grade playful and therapeutic activities for children with certain disorders.
