I had a special classmate when I was in junior high school. His father and mother divorced and his father drove the truck to earn money to support their life. At first, I took pity on him, trying to do my best to teach him. However, he did not accept my assistance; instead, he was thinking about how to chase the girl who he liked very much all day!
When I picked up the pencil which he threw on the floor and asked him to concentrate on his
homework, he just slept! Then I realized that he could only spell his name or wrote several easy words! Little by little, I started looking down on him, everyone in the class didn’t like him because of his impolite behaviors. Regarding his as an
useless guy, I didn’t want to help him anymore.
One day, he ran toward me with a hand-made work. It was a piece of paper with a bridge made of chopsticks stuck to it and with a house made of
bottles. He was very excited and delighted, looking like a naïve child and he told me that he used
garbage to make the work. I was stunned because his work was very impressive, it was anything but failure. I didn’t know how to respond to him, the bad impression still stick in my mind so I just
smiled politely and walked away.
He still slept during the class, but I found that he would collect materials or litter to create some incredible masterpieces. Like aliens, FLO or ancient warriors. Day by day, his artworks were increasing and my bad impression was decreasing. Suddenly, I was deeply ashamed because of my
discrimination. Everyone has his/her talent, maybe he/she can’t do well on this thing, but it doesn’t mean that he / she isn’t worth appreciating and encouraging. I used to think that everything he did was silliness, but his artworks have changed my stubborn thinking. The saying goes that “ All things
in their being are good for something” I believe that my classmate will definitely become an artist in the years to come!
