International Trade and Finance ,Fu Jen Catholic Univ.

2010 年 九十八年度 下學期

Objectives: 1. How to model a consumer’s choice problem and learn that what are characteristics of a rational consumer behavior?

2. Special topics in consumer theory. This section will include

topics about “Labor Supply of the Household”, “Intertemporal Choice”,

“The Theory of Revealed Preference”

3. Cost minimization of a competitive firm.

4. Market structures and a firm’s profit maximization behavior.

Especially, we will focus on duopoly game in Oligopoly market Structure.

Prerequisites: A little sense of Economics.

Course Material: Intermediate Microeconomics—A Modern Approach Hal R. Varian

3. Preferences 4. Utility

5. The optimal choice of a consumer.

6. Comparative statics analysis of consumer’s behavior 7. The Revealed Preference Theory---I

8. The Revealed Preference Theory---II 9. Mid-term exam.

10. Labor Supply of the Household.

11. Intertemporal Choice Problem and some Welfare Indices.

12. Cost minimization of a competitive firm---I.

13. Cost minimization of a competitive firm---II.

14.Monopolistic Competition and Monopoly markets---I.

15.Monopolistic Competition and Monopoly markets---II.

16.Oligopoly I.

17.Oligopoly II.

18. Final Exam.

Evaluation:

1. Mid-term 30%

2. Final exam. 40%

3. Quizs 30%
