Course : Adult Nursing
Credit : 4Crs. ( 4 hour lecture per week) Placement : spring semester, 2009/2 – 2009/6
Course Description :
The class is designed to assist the student with the application of the nursing process to care of the adult with variety of health problems requiring medical and/or surgical
intervention. Emphasis is placed on the value/belief system, so that holistic nursing is understood and practiced.
PBL pathway emphasizes an integrated context for learning, developing skills in working with a group, and encouraging self-directed study. Groups of five to ten students meet with a faculty facilitator one time per week. Faculty members do not “teach” in the traditional sense. Instead, they facilitate discussion and direct students towards instructional materials as needed..
A series of cases focus on learning by concepts required to understand patient/family problems. Students then work independently outside the group before the next meeting, at
which time the newly acquired knowledge is synthesized and refined in the context of the case.
Objective :
After completion of the learning activities for this course, the student will be able : 1. Recognize the physio-psycho-socio-spiritual factors that influencing an
individual’s ability to maintain health.
2. Describe the nurse’s role related to diagnosis procedures with selected health problems.
3. Explain the rationale of therapy in relation to pathophysiological processes.
4. Make nursing diagnosis to selected health problems.
5. Understand the principles of nursing intervention in selected health problems.
6. Demonstrate the therapeutic psychomotor skills for providing nursing care, based on theoretical knowledge.
7. Understand the importance of self-appraisal to life-long learning.
8. Understand the principles of self-directed learning.
9. Demonstrate the critical thinking process and the growth of decision- making.
