5. Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the subject, students should be able to:
(1) construct critical responses, appreciation and creative thinking skills through learning-by-practicing during theatre productions, and understand the requirements of the industry;
(2) integrate creative, imaginative and reflective skills to apply to performance and creation;
(3) apply interpersonal skills and team building skills through rehearsal, group projects, collaborative tasks and showing;
(4) develop self-confidence and self-esteem through effective self-expression in drama and theatre activities;
(5) appraise the work ethics and demonstrate positive values and attitudes related to theatre arts industry; and
(6) develop self-understanding for further studies and career

Upon completion of Contextual Studies and Major Studies (Fundamentals of Dramatic Arts), students acquire the skills of drama performance, playwriting and practice, and apply them to characterisation, creation and rehearsals in the process of theatre production for a drama performance.

Upon completion of Contextual Studies and Major Studies (Fundamentals of Theatre Production), students acquire the knowledge and skills of theatre production and practice, and apply them on theatrical presentations with a suggested topic.

7. The Context
The information on possible study and career pathways is provided to enhance students’ understanding of the wider context of the specific Applied Learning course. Students who have successfully completed Applied Learning courses have to meet other entry requirements as specified by the institutions.
The recognition of Applied Learning courses for admission to further studies and career opportunities is at the discretion of relevant institutions. The Education Bureau and the course providers of Applied Learning are exploring and seeking recognition related to further education and career development opportunities for students successfully completing the Applied Learning courses.

the study of dance fundamentals and dance production in Taking a Chance on Dance can contribute and be transferred to the performing requirements in theatre arts
the study in Fashion Image Design can contribute and be transferred to the performing requirement in theatre production as well as dramatic arts.
There are similarities between costume design and fashion image design in the application and concept of colour, texture, pattern, and material. The knowledge and skills of theatre production can be applied in the fashion image design show. Students can transfer the performing skills into modeling skills for presentation in the fashion image design show
Media and Communication
The study in Film and Transmedia can contribute and be transferred to the performing requirements in theatre arts.
There are similarities between on stage performance and production of the film and transmedia shooting. Students studying dramatic arts can take up the acting roles in the production. The learning of set and costume design, sound and lighting design from theatre production could be applied in the creation and production process Future global and local outlook
the various factors in the macro and micro environment help sustain Hong Kong’s development in performing arts, e.g.
- the completion of the West Kowloon Cultural District and the East Kowloon Cultural Centre will become the landmarks of arts development.
Major facilities related to performing arts include the Xiqu Centre, Freespace, the Lyric Theatre Complex, and the Art Park. This development needs vast amount of local performing arts creative professions, technical arts support and arts administrative people - the demand for performing artists, technical arts support and arts administrative people from the prospering entertainment industry (e.g.
theme parks, integrated resorts), the international performing groups, and the cultural development in Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area, and the Mainland
- the growing recognition of the value of arts education in Hong Kong creates a stable growing need of arts educators (including schools and community)
- the cultural literacy of next generation is cultivated through school tour, community engagement project, and inter-school events
- the development of local small to medium scale theatre companies subsidised by Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the local independent film and video industries needs talents to work in related projects
- the existing free and paid television channels provide more opportunity for performing and technical support in different media
- the Belt and Road Initiative could be an opportunity for the performing arts and creative industries to enhance cultural exchange and collaboration among of the countries in the areas
