Abstract
Because there was almost absence of female roles in history inTaiwan, this study is intended to report the past condition ofprimaryschool education forgirlsinTaiwan which may influence the female roles in society and through the reconstruction of their situations inthe past to learn it onthe basis of liberalism of women today. A meaningful guidance is hoped established.
ABSTRACT
This research is to study how elementary school teachers in Taichung City make use of any teaching resources from National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and the teacher’s need in their researching and studying. It also confers to different background options to determine whether there is any correlation between the using situations of teaching resources from National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and what kind of resource from it teachers need in their researching and studying. The studying method of this research mainly focuses on “method of questionnaire survey,” which includes several open-ended questions and uses census to discuss further. There are 393 people in this survey. The results are received by census software and analyzed by “Descriptive Statistics,” “Independent Sample T-test,” “One-way ANOVA,” “Scheffe test after Scheffe's method,” and “Pearson product moment correlation analysis.” The results are mentioned below: First, the ratio about teachers who use teaching resources andparticipate in teachers researching and studying is one time (up to four times). They usually need “resource usage” and focus on “activity teacher.” In addition, in terms of activity time, teacher is definitely willing to participate in during winter and summer vacations. Separately, teachers who have under five-year experience and have participated more than five times in activities inthe two years are very stimulative in every item of activities. There are remarkable differences about teachersr need of teaching resources form National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in terms of different backgrounds which using materials from National Taiwan
In partnership with our Editors and Network Partners the Communication & Media Studies Research Network is curated by Common Ground Research Networks. Founded in 1984, Common Ground Research Networks is committed to building new kinds of knowledge communities, innovative in their media and forward thinking in their messages. Common Ground Research Networks takes some ofthe pivotal challenges of our time and builds research networks which cut horizontally across legacy knowledge structures. Sustainability, diversity, learning, the future of humanities, the nature of interdisciplinarity, the place ofthe arts in society, technology’s connections with knowledge, the changing role ofthe university—these are deeply important questions of our time which require interdisciplinary thinking, global conversations, and cross-institutional intellectual collaborations. Common Ground is a meeting place for people, ideas, and dialogue. However, the strength of ideas does not come from finding common denominators. Rather, the power and resilience of these ideas is that they are presented and tested ina shared space where differences can meet and safely connect—differences of perspective, experience, knowledge base, methodology, geographical or cultural origins, and institutional affiliation. These are the kinds of vigorous and sympathetic academic milieus in which the most productive deliberations about the future can be held. We strive to create places of intellectual interaction and imagination that our future deserves.
ABSTRACT
International Safe Schools are established by the cooperation of schools and communities to provide the faculty, students and community residents with safe places and systems. Recently, over 27 domestic schools have been certified for International Safe Schools while only 53 schools totally inthe world are certified. This density inTaiwan wins first place. The goals of certification for International Safe Schools are promoting concepts and experienceof International Safe Schools, and the related campus safety plans are developed through indicators to avoid and prevent injuries in campus from happening to ensure the campus safety plans are fulfilled. This study aimed at understanding the benefits of certifications of International Safety Schools for domestic schools. The bibliographies analysis, field observation, and depth interviews are employed to research onthe capital data of domestic
Theprimary findings are as follows:
Most senior high school students live at home, with their parents.
Most of their fathers are working inthe service industry, the manufacturing industry, and the commerce.
Most of their mothers are housewives. Most of their parents graduates from senior high school, vocational school, and college. More than 50% ofthe students have their own personal computers. On average, they have used the Internet for 6.25 years;.they used the Internet for 7.68 hours a week. And they usually use the Internet at home. Web is the most frequently used modes. Chat rooms/Instant Message stands as second. The third is blog.
PHNs’ previous e-learning experience
One important statistic presented in this study is that only 9.87% of subjects had ever before partic- ipated in an e-learning program. Studies are lacking for comparison but we have compared this impor- tant data with percentages of personal computers and internet access inTaiwan. This obviously low rate of previous e-learning experience by PHNs par- ticipating in this study might imply that fewer PHNs have used the internet for professional develop- ment in past two decades, even though e-learning has been applied to nursing education (Yu and Yang, 2006). Reinert and Fryback (1997) surveyed 353 schools ofthe American Nursing School Alli- ance and found that web-based courses have in- creased more than five-fold inthe past 5 years. Inthe future, it is believed that the rate of e-learning will be maintained incrementally. Therefore, in or- der to produce a significant educational impact, it is important to conduct more studies to determine barriers to e-learning for nurses.
There has been a lack ofa complete long-term caring and service programs for patients with dementia inTaiwan. Caregivers are unble to provide dementia patients with sustainable, overall service. The aim of this research is to investigate the needs and related factors needed by the caregivers to effect necessary routines whilst caring for dementia patients..
For prepayment behavior, results show that the loan to value ratio, payment to income ratio, regional variation, unemployment rates, divorce rates and negative housing equity have significant negative impact on prepayment; and the decrease of market interest rates have positive influence on prepayment behavior. The influence directions of variables on prepayment are mostly opposite against default. The only differences are that mortgage term shows insignificant positive impact on prepayment, and that regional variation shows significant negative impact on both prepayment and default. This might indicate that the borrowers in urban areas inTaiwan tend to neither prepay nor default, due to heavy burdens of housing affordability and comprehension ofthe importance of credit. Furthermore, the loan size is not a significant factor, however, other elements inthe loan contract, such as LTV and PTI, have shown their effects.

This paper describes our experience with a one-semester course on how to build a medically-related homepage onthe Internet, designed for fourth-year medical students. Based onthe assumption of limited technical knowledge ofthe Internet, this class taught students Internet-exploring skills, multimedia authoring and HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) inthe first eight-week period. Students were then divided into four-person teams and asked to select a topic fora homepage. These teams were then asked to collect the necessary resources forthe development ofthe homepage both through individual work and, consultation with an advisor. Each group project for building medically-related homepage was accomplished and presented inthe remaining four-week period. The resultant projects of these fourth-year medical students were of surprisingly good content and high quality.

Abstract
Electric arc furnaces (EAF) are used inthe steel industry to convert pig iron, scrap and other iron units to steel. It is widely used inTaiwan to produce carbon and steel alloys. However, it is estimated that approximately 10-25 kg of dust is generated per ton of steel produced when scrap is remelted by EAF. InTaiwan, EAFs discharge approximately 170,000 tons of dust annually. Moreover, chemical analysis showed that concentrations of Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Se, Ag, Sn, V, and Zn in EAF dust were significantly greater than background soil concentrations. The mass of respirable particles as well as the chemical composition ofthe particles has been identified to be potentially responsible for various deleterious effects on human health. The present study combined air sampling with pulmonary function tests (PFTs) to determine both the extent of air pollution proximal to an electric arc furnace and its impact on human health. The mass concentrations of PM 10 and PM 2.5 in exposure areas were not significantly higher than the samples taken at a control area. However, the concentrations of five metal elements, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Zn in PM 2.5 were increased with decreasing distance from the emission source. PFTs showed that the average forced vital capacity (FVC) of boys was decreased with decreasing distance from the EAF factory. With normalization of pulmonary function by age, height and weight, we found that the △FVC became more negative with a decrease in distance from the EAF. Lastly, regression analysis was performed to analyze the impact ofthe concentrations ofthe five metals in PM 2.5 onthe performance of pulmonary function.
Here the “σ” expresses the standard variance of β.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate financial ratios as well as predictors of life insurers’ insolvency. First, we employ factor analysis to reduce the variable, and we find that the accident and health business ratio, change in fixed asset ratio, change in liquid asset ratio, and change in loan ratio are important factors for Taiwanese life insurers’ insolvency. Thus, Taiwan’s insurance commoners should be focus onthe change inthe fixed asset ratio, and changes inthe liquid asset ratio are always very significant at insolvency. We then employ the logistic and MDA model to estimate the probability of insolvency, and the variable is the factor scores inthe current year.
With the aging of population inTaiwan , calls for community care emerged, and day care programs forthe elderly were developed in every counties. This paper investigates the participation experience and its correlations with social support and life satisfaction among the elderly in communities of Nantou county.
Case control design is employed to suit research purpose. Study was conducted with gender, age, job, residence, and educational background as the variables. Sample of case group consists of four non-profit elder day care centers and 54 elderly respondents were interviewed. The control group consists of 54 elderly who never enrolled in day care center but with similar social backgrounds pertaining to sex, age , education, and occupational history inthe same communities .
ABSTRACT
Shopping mall is a new type of retail context inTaiwan. Because the competition is being heavily, managers must try their best to show their competitive advantages. If they can provide the entertaining shopping experience which consumers hunger for and let consumers have positive judgments, they will get much more possible of making a profit. In order to realize the phenomenon, this study took shoppers of shopping mall as thestudy object, and tried to confer whether consumers will have purchase intention through perceived value by those entertaining shopping experiences. This study was proceeded by convenience sampling, and investigated by questionnaire in eight shopping malls in Shanghai and Taiwan, and obtained 370 responses as a validation sample, and the effective response rate was 82%; by regression analyses, we got the following results: 1. Perceived value mediates the relationship between entertaining shopping experience and purchase intention. 2. This study once again confirmed that the relationship between perceived value and purchase intention in shopping experience context is also supported. Finally, we put forward concrete theories and marketing actual situation by the basis which is above-mentioned.
There are three major purposes in this research. The first one depicts the patternsof work related stresses, coping styles and outcomes among caring staffs who innursing homes. The second one discusses the binary between the person’scharacteristic of caring staffs, work related stresses, coping styles and theirresponse to work related stresses. The last one predicts influential factors of theresponses to work related stresses caring primary.

In order to verify the accuracy ofthe 2-D wave propagation computer model, a group of predicted signal strength data is compared with the actual measured signal strength inthe field. The validation exercise in- volves DTV transmission at channel 35 inthe UHF band, and NTSC transmission at channel 11 inthe VHF band from the Northern Sta- tion. Field strength data are measured along three paths inthe northern part ofTaiwan. Fig. 3 illustrates the 45 measurement locations along the three paths P1, P2, and P3. Figs. 4–6 illustrate the measured and predicted DTV signal strengths along paths P1, P2 and P3 respec- tively. Figs. 7–9 illustrate the measured and predicted NTSC signal strengths along paths P1, P2 and P3 respectively. From these figures, it is found that the means ofthe estimation error (") range between 0.2 dB and 07.2 dB, and the standard deviations ( " ) range between 6 dB and 9 dB. The relatively close match between the measured and predicted field strength data shows that the 2-D wave propagation com- puter model is an acceptable tool to estimate radio coverage.

Taiwanese college HE traditionally emphasises teaching theoretical knowledge. Once engaged in their career, students who have graduated from college often realise that the real-world work situation is vastly different from the theory they learned (Huang & Huang, 2004). Consequently, colleges have begun to work with industries to arrange internship programmes so that students can become acquainted with business operations and the work environment. Internship is part ofthe college/industry co-operation programme through which students at universities inTaiwan are offered workplace learning opportunities, in partnership with leisure organisations. Their education takes place both in college and in industry, with the intention of reinforcing both learning and career development through providing an effective internship experience.
