Since the effects of the bilingual tools were examined by the present study, further research in the future is required. It is hopeful that future research will provide more detailed results. There are several directions for future research.
First, more participants at different grades or with different language proficiency levels in the junior high school should be recruited for a thorough investigation of the effects of the two bilingual tools on junior high students’ collocation learning.
Second, one area of future research which should be considered is the investigation of the effects of bilingual tools on other aspects of language learning at junior high education level. For example, the effects of the bilingual tools on junior high students’ grammatical collocation learning or grammar learning can be targeted for the possible topics.
Third, the present study only focuses on the product of learners’ collocation learning. The process of their collocation consulting still remains unknown. Therefore, in future research, the junior high students’ collocation learning process can be explored via bilingual concordancing. Furthermore, since there are many possible collocates, the strategies that learners use to search for the proper collocates can also be investigated.
Finally, the present study only focuses on the students. It is advisable for future studies to explore the teachers’ role during the bilingual consulting process or exploit their perceptions toward bilingual concordancing.
