5.3 Future Research

Much research remains to be done on topics of gender equality in Honduras, focusing on education, health and overall empowerment. These topics can be studied in depth, taking into consideration variables such as in the case of education: drop out and repetition rates, content and quality of education and gender mainstreaming incorporated into national syllabi, among others. Concerning health much research needs to be done regarding overall access to information, reproduction freedom, access to birth control and other variables that keep strengthening, or weakening, gender equality in the country. In terms of empowerment, when studying proportion of seats held by women in national

parliaments quotas are extremely important, as are the mechanisms and significance acquired in each country to fulfill this requirements. It is also important for future researchers to include further investigation on overall power positions, not only seats in congress but political parties and private companies.

Qualitative research is adequate to investigate gender equality, do its complexity, including interviews and surveys from women suffering from inequalities in Honduras can contribute to any investigation model that include cultural idiosyncrasies and characteristics, bringing positive outcomes in this specific field of research. Other mechanisms that include independent quantitative research are also recommended in the future to decrease dependence on already defined data sets. Gender inequality in the country can be exemplified in attitudes and daily interaction and can translate into education, health and political capabilities. A deeper study can be costly and take

numerous amounts of years but it can only benefit the most vulnerable, contributing to a specific statement of the problem and the establishment of potential solutions

In order to reduce differences between women and men, education, health and political policies need to be considered at al levels. Future research can benefit from a

multidimensional approach of gender equality when filling the research gaps of the relation between gender equality and education, health and empowerment outcomes in various settings.
