4.5 Betweenness analysis of these sites

Betweenness, which is referred to consider the ratio in the middle of the path of the particular point, is also said to the intermediary. The concept of Betweenness is similar to the bridge, and the nodes attaching to each other must go through it to make a connection with the target nodes.

4.5.1 Betweenness analysis of the PTT site (1) Betweenness of the PTT site

The Betweenness index of the PTT site is sorted as shown in Table 4-15 in five months accumulation, and the above items of Table 4-15 are number, code and Betweenness. The normalized Betweenness (NrmBetweenness) showed the objective figure and represented the phenomenon of Betweenness’s dilution with the numbers of site user increase so as to comprehend the partial state of the information diffusion.

The range of the normalized numeric is from 13.723 to 4.338, and it extracted the top twenty Betweenness numeric from 579 users, and demonstrated the network's degree of connection with the nodes on the PTT site during five months.

The Codes of highest Betweenness are P01000020, P02000015, P01000231on the PTT site. This study illustrated the Betweenness of the separate code during five months hereafter.

As Figure 4-19 illustrated the Betweenness of the PTT site during five months, if the size of the symbol is larger, the numeric of Betweenness will also be larger. Also, there are 579 nodes in the Figure. The higher nodes' connection is comments, posts, arrows and reposts. For the comments responding to the articles, and the posts posting many articles, these function roles developed many bridges to connect with each other.

The un-normalized Betweenness of Code-P01000020 is becoming greater, and the normalized Betweenness is not becoming greater with the time increase. It means that the other nodes connecting with code-P01000020 illustrated more from the first to the third month for the users increase.

Normalized Betweenness is slowing down from the third to the fifth month.

Moreover, it may be interested in further topics about the new discussions, so it is an active user on the PTT site. The un-normalized Betweenness Code- un-normalized Betweenness of Code- P01000231 is becoming greater, and the normalized Betweenness is not becoming greater with the time increase. It may

Figure 4-20 illustrated the normalized Betweenness of code-P01000020, P02000015 and P01000231, and the normalized Betweenness of code- P01000020 is not always on the increase. It may be caused by users and new article discussions increased.

4.5.2 Betweenness analysis of the Facebook site (1) Betweenness of the Facebook site

The Betweenness of the Facebook site is sorted as shown in Table 4-17 during five months’ accumulation, and the above items of Table 4-17 are number, code and Betweenness. The normalized Betweenness (NrmBetweenness) showed the objective figure and represented the phenomenon of Betweenness’s dilution with the numbers of the site user increment so as to comprehend the partial state of information diffusion.

extracted the top twenty Betweenness numeric from 82 users, and demonstrated the network's degree of connection with the nodes on Facebook site during five months.

Table 4-18 shows the Betweenness of Code- F01001. The un-normalized Betweenness is becoming greater, and the normalized Betweenness is not becoming greater with the time increasing. It means that the other nodes connecting with code- F01001 illustrated more from the first to second month for the users increment. Normalized Betweenness is slowing down from the second to third month. Moreover, because of the posting limitation, many nodes have to go through code- F01001 to connect with each other. Then the numeric of Betweenness is greater than other nodes.

Figure 4-22 illustrated the normalized Betweenness of code-F01001, F02001 and F03008, and the normalized Betweenness of code-F01001 is not always on the increase. It may be caused by the increasing users and new article discussions. According to the posting limitation, the normalized Betweenness of code-F01001 is considerable larger than other nodes, as the normalized degree, Indegree and Outdegree showed.

4.5.3 Remarks

Betweenness is a concept of bridge, and it links with each other from different teams to form larger groups for information transmission. From the Betweenness analysis on PTT site, the greater Betweenness nodes include posts and other function roles, it means, if the users respond frequently, what they perform on PTT site are not only the active users but also the roles of transfer station. Observed from the Facebook site, the highest Betweenness numeric is still HTC official for its posting limitation. It means that only HTC official who posts the articles can set up more bridges on the site.
