In this chapter, the results of the research will be concluded. Overall, it has been a wide research on the development of competitive surfing in Taiwan with a lot of following up possibilities. Therefore, from this research the conclusions are the following:

To first and major conclusion is the positive development of the surfing scene which has been growing over the past years. This leads to surfers being more involved within the surfing scene and the adaptation of the culture around surfing. Besides, more and more facilities are being developed around the known surf spots.

This research is however more focused on the status and opportunities of competitive surfing in Taiwan. The research showed that there are three major competitive events in Taiwan.

However, these events are mostly small competitions and a lot of surfers do not known about them. This is caused by the fact that competitions are organised individually and that there is no partnership or cooperation between the different competitions. By sharing knowledge and resources, the world of competitive surfing in Taiwan could grow much faster. Besides, a great opportunity would be to start a national tour in which organisations could find together support for surfing and the competitions.

Furthermore, the support given for surfing and surfing competitions is growing around Taiwan, especially on a local level. The support from national organisations or government is almost inexistent because of the lack of focus on sports in general by the Taiwanese government.

A change of policy would be a great opportunity for a sport culture to be integrated in the current Taiwanese culture and benefit to surfing competitions and other sports.

With the growth of surfing there is a chance for too crowded surf areas. However, this can be managed and avoided by the development and creation of new maintained surf locations.

Creating new surfing locations brings in the opportunity for new surfing competitions and a commercial development around the new surfing areas. Besides, with more surfers and more surfing areas, the surfing and beach culture will slowly develop in Taiwan. All in all, Taiwan is a nice surfing destination and has the potential surfing and surfing competitions to develop.
