New Solid should start R&D in the PLA packaging material to replace PVC, even though the price of a product might not currently reflect the full costs. Since it might require some adjustments on the extrusion machinery and numerous R&D trials and efforts. However, we can foresee the trends in the future package industry which require the materials to be biodegradable in order to help the environment, so PLA materials will become a long term solution for New Solid.
4.5 Further lookout
As Mr. G stated during an interview that he has brought in an environmentally friendly raw material 3 years ago, he is preparing to develop a packaging material which would be able to degrade in soil within 120 days and it will become a fertilizer for the ground. He said "The main source of raw materials is actually from a plant, so our future R & D projects will be focusing on resource-saving, environmental protection and recycling.”
With the new economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) between China and Taiwan, this means New Solid might be able to purchase raw materials imported from Taiwan. It

The rise in the base wage requirements in Xiamen would increase the company’s overhead costs. At the same time due to regulation and shortage of labor, employees tend to go on strikes or quit without notice. This actually is an interesting finding on how any Taiwanese investor can retain their human resource and balance its overheads.
