4.6.2 Preference of Every Service’s Billing Mode

1. Result based on all respondents

This study tried to explore specific billing mode for every services. Beside the 14 services, charging for package solution was also included as one question to get the fittest billing mode. The result showed the preferred billing mode for each service as the followings: Most of the respondents thought MLBS community/friend-finder (50.9%), gaming (51.4%), nearby location checking (39.3%), traffic information (41.4%), navigation (39.3%), map (47.6%), nearby stores’ coupons/sales information (37.6%), tracking elders/children/pets/car/property (39.0%), and charging for package solution (51.0%) should apply fixed charging mode. For the rest of the services, most of the respondents thought entertainment information (37.9%), local weather report (45.2%), finding taxi (65.2%), mobile transaction/billing (44.1%), emergency rescue (56.2%), and road side assistance (60.3%) should apply charging based on using frequency.

2. Result based on gender

Among the 290 questionnaires (i.e. 112 males and 178 females), we applied t-test to discover whether there was difference between male group and female group. The result showed no significant difference between male’s and female’s preferences on choosing billing mode for community/friend-finder service. In other words, among the five billing modes, both males and females chose fixed charging as best billing mode for community/friend-finder service.

Among the 290 questionnaires (i.e. 112 males and 178 females), we applied t-test to discover whether there was difference between male group and female group. The result showed no significant difference between male’s and female’s preferences on choosing billing mode for gaming service. In other words, among the five billing modes, both males and females chose fixed charging as best billing mode for gaming service.

The result showed significant difference between male’s and female’s preferences on choosing billing mode for entertainment information service. Even though there was difference between males (8.9%) and females (15.2%) who chose to charge based on using time for entertainment information service, both males and females preferred on charging based on using frequency for entertainment information service more than the other options.

The result showed significant difference between male’s and female’s preferences on choosing billing mode for emergency rescue service. Even though there was

difference between males (35.7%) and females (23.0%) who chose fixed charging for emergency rescue service, both males and females preferred on charging based on using frequency for emergency rescue service more than the other options.

3. Description of significant difference

According to the comparison in the previous paragraphs, there were significant differences between male’s and female’s preferred billing modes on entertainment information, finding taxi, emergency rescue, and road side assistance. Therefore, this study further made statistics for the four services and found out the most preferred

billing mode for both males and females were charging based on using frequency.
