Chapter 5 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

5.2 Suggestion

The promotion of medical tourism depends on the industry efforts and government support so that could improve the market competitiveness in the world. This research offers the following suggestions, consult with government unit, medical industry and tourism industry

Government

There are still many urgent problems need to overcome, If more policy limited and legal restrictions are not practical, the development vision of health tourism is worthy of consideration, and the most priority goal are amend existing laws and the deregulation of medical advertising restrictions, visas and other issues should be simplify. For example, Bumrungrad Hospital will have to set service counter for the visa extension patients were given visas and instant convenience in Thailand.

Government will implement the hospital which provide international medical services, according to the Tourism Bureau planned scenic site and integrate the core hospitals which selected by the international medical evaluation in medical tourism. Tourism Bureau audited travel agencies, hotels, restaurants and other companies though signing a strategic alliance

in order to promote the integration of the structure in the medical tourism.

National government should take an active role in promoting our nation as destinations for foreign patients. Government support for medical tourism includes sponsorship of trade shows and other promotional events held abroad that are designed to attract patients and market high quality of medical facilities.

Tourism industry

The high quality of medical treatment and facilities at affordable prices are very competitive in Taiwan, Tourism Bureau should cooperate with the travel agent, hotels and restaurants with good quality to plan trip and medical treatment in order to attract medical tourists.

Then the country and local government promote marketing activities. In addition, the language ability of the hospitality’s professional personnel and employees should be increase the second language, such as Japanese in order to improve the international competitive.

Hospital

It is still insufficient that the international language of the medical professionals at present, the language ability of medical personnel should be strengthen in order to reduce the obstacle of conversation and thus avoid caused medical conflicts. On the other hand, the language ability will be an important successful factor of medical treatment in Taiwan, mainly it is easy to communicate in the same language situation relatively, it need to constant inquiry, communicate, confirm and explain. If communication has no problem, it can reduce the medical conflict. Our language advantage is Chinese in Taiwan and we can regard China as our target market with medical examination and medical beauty.

Although many private hospitals received national accreditation system, the numbers of international accreditation system are insufficient for most of hospitals. In Taiwan, the number of JCI accreditation system ratio is insufficient. To access hospital accreditation in the international recognition of medical treatment, it is important issue that the hospital was participated in international medical evaluation (Joint Commission International, JCI).

Because of the premiums and pharmaceutical are expensive in United States, the insurance company allows patients to accept medical tourism in carrier-specified hospital, or no payment will be afforded. Our private hospital should strive for cooperate with foreign insurance company and increase patients transfer to Taiwan accept medical treatment in order to increase more revenue in hospital. In addition, all medical groups should build caring network which was follow-up treatment in order to increase customers’ satisfaction.
