Finally, as regards smoking, it is against the law to buy cigarettes or tobacco (烟草) if you are under 16 years of age.

Passage Two
Questions 46 to 49 are based on the following passage.
As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of relaxation. Once you are in the habit of rushing through life, being on the go from morning till night, it is hard to slow down. But relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body.
Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health.
The amount of stress a person can withstand depends very much on the individual. Some people are not afraid of stress, and such characters are obviously prime material for managerial responsibilities, others lose heart at the first sign of unusual difficulties. When exposed to stress, in whatever form, we react both chemically and physically. In fact we make choice between "fight or flight" and in more primitive days the choices made the difference between life or death. The crises we meet today are unlikely to be so extreme, but however little the stress, it involves the
same response. It is when such a reaction lasts long, through continued exposure to stress, that health becomes endangered. Since we can't remove stress from our lives (it would be unwise to do so even if we could), we need to find ways to deal with it. 46. People are finding less and less time for relaxing themselves because________. A. they regard working as their greatest enjoyment B. they believe that work is superior to relaxation C. they are traveling fast all the time D. they are becoming busier with their work than even before
47. According to the author, the most important character for a good manager is his ________. A. unyielding will to hold out stress B. knowing the art of relaxation C. high sense of responsibility D. having control over performance 48. Which of the following statements is true, according to the passage? A. We can find quite a few ways to avoid stress B. Stress is always harmful to people's health C. It's easy to change the habit of keeping oneself busy with work D. Different people can bear different amount of stress 49. In the last sentence of passage, "do so" refers to "________". A. expose ourselves to stress B. find ways to deal with stress C. remove stress from our lives D. establish links between diseases and stress Passage Three Questions 50 to 53 are based on the following passage. More and more, the operations of our businesses, governments, and financial institutions are controlled by information that exists only inside computer memories. Anyone clever enough to modify this information for his own purposes can reap big reward. Even worse, a number of people who have done this and been caught at it have managed to get away without punishment.
It's easy for computer crimes to go undetected if no one checks up on what the computer is doing. But even if the crime is detected, the criminal may walk away not only unpunished but with a glowing recommendation from his former employers.
many of the crimes we do know about were detected by accident, not by systematic inspections or other security procedures. The computer criminals who have been caught may have been the victims of uncommonly bad luck.
Unlike other lawbreakers, who must leave the country, commit suicide, or go to jail, computer criminals sometimes escape punishment, demanding not only that they not be charged but that they be given good recommendations and perhaps other benefits. All too often, their demands have been met.
Why? Because company executives are afraid of the bad publicity that would result if the public found out that their computer had been misused. They hesitate at the thought of a criminal boasting in open court of how he juggled (诈骗) the most confidential (保密) records right under the noses of the company's executives, accountants, and security staff. And so another computer criminal departs with just the recommendations he needs to continue his crimes elsewhere. 50. It can be concluded from the passage that ________. A. it is still impossible to detect computer crimes today B. people commit computer crimes at the request of their company C. computer criminals escape punishment because they can't be detected D. computer crimes are the most serious problem in the operation of financial institutions 51. Which of the following statements is mentioned in the passage? A. A strict law against computer crimes must be enforced. B. Companies usually hesitate to uncover computer crimes to protect their reputation. C. Companies will guard against computer crimes to protect their reputation. D. Companies need to impose restrictions on confidential information. 52. What may happen to computer criminals once they are caught? A. With a bad reputation they can hardly find another job. B. They may walk away and easily find another job. C. They will be denied access to confidential records. D. They must leave the country to go to jail. 53. The passage is mainly about ________. A. why computer criminals are often able to escape punishment B. why computer crimes are difficult to detect by systematic inspections
C. how computer criminals mange to get good recommendations from their former employers

If you are failing, you are in great company. 58) Most of the super achievers in history failed more often than anyone else. 59) The difference is that they did not let the failure defeat them. They just continued to modify their strategies until they found what worked. They did not quit. 60) They knew what they wanted and they did not give up until they achieved their goal. When Thomas Edison was attempting to discover the light bulb he was not met with much support from the scientific community. 61) As a matter of fact, they thought he was crazy to try to invent something that was clearly impossible. A young reporter interviewed Edison and asked him, "Mr. Edison, how can you continue to try to invent the light bulb when you have failed over 5 000 times." To which Thomas Edison replied, "Young man, I have not failed 5 000 times. I have successfully discovered 5 000 ways that do not work and I do not need to try them again." 62) This is a great way to interpret failure—as a learning experience.
