丈譯英詞講演長吾~鍾 The English version of the main points of my follows:
Mrs. Gregersen, Pres. & Mrs. Bard, Mr. Gregersen, Jr.,
Distinguished guests; Former Pres. & Mrs. Ling, Former Dir.
& Mrs. Lee, Faculty & Staff members, Fellow alt.imniand student representatives. Ladies and Gentlemen:
I feel profoundly honored to be presiding over this auspi-cious occasion in celebration of the 74th anniversary of the
founding of Chiao Tung Univsrsity.
The Chiao Tung alumni have been famous for their merl-torious services in various fields at home and abroad. This not only contributes to their own personal success but also reflects great credit on their alma mater.
Abiding by their traditional observance of the University
motto: "'Be mindful of its source while drinking the water弋
the Chiao Tung alumni have invariably been loyal and helpful to their alma mater. None of the major events in Chiao Tung
could have been accomplished without the helps of the alumni.
The 74th anniversary celebration is distinguished for the
inauguration of the Magnus1.Gregersen Library. Here is one
thing so important that I have to stress emphatically. Without the substantial financial assistance of the International
Foun-dation
,
the construction of this new Library would not havebeen possible. The National Chiao Tung University owes
both the late President Gregersen and President Bard a debt of gratitude for their magnificient contributions.
Conclusive旬, On behalf of Chiao Tung University, the
Alumni Association, and the Ministry of Education, I should
like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Gregersen, Pres. &
Mrs. Bard, and Mr. Gregersen, Jr., for their kindness to be
here with us for the dedication of the new Library and the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the University's birth. Thank You. '7盟 迫:這
