Sincerity has two functions in Chinese literature. One function is to attain personal perfection; the other is to (1) other people in achieving perfection. To attain these two goals, an individual should first (2) himself/herself in sincerity. What is sincerity? Sincerity is power. The energy of sincerity comes from oneself, which is one’s (3).
