二十世紀美國史專題

一、 教學目標
本課程為專題討論，增進學生對於二十世紀以來美國史上的重要議題的 認知及史學思潮，以培養歷史思維及其史學。
二、 課程大綱：
本課程針對美國二十世紀所發生的重大事件，做專題討論；同時輔以史學 思想及影視專題討論。
目前所擬議題如下：
1. the Progressive Movement and the progressive historians: Frederick Turner, Charles Beard, V. Parington
2. World War I and U.S.: Isolation or not
3. the U.S. in 1920s: the lost generation (Ten Commandment)
4. the Great Depression and the New Deal; Eliot Morrison and Builders of the Bay Colony(1930)
5. World War II: the War and films (the Pearl Harbor…) 6. the U.S. in the Cold War Era: Consensus
7. the Reform and the Rebellion in 1960s ( Who comes for dinner…)
8. the U.S. and the Vietnam War: John C. Rowe and Rick Berg, the Vietnam War and American Culture.( Good Morning, Vietnam)
9. the Revival of Conservatism

三、成績計算方式
開學最初兩週，由教師將二十世紀美國歷史的發展做一概論性綜合分析，
每個學生須就自己的興趣，依序報告。最後兩週學生將以所選擇主題，做 較深入完整的研究。期末繳交報告一份。學期成績以平日上課表現及學期報
告為評量標準，各佔50%。
