我們以霍式紅外光譜研究2-乙醇胺(HOCH2CH2NH2)於二氧化鈦(TiO2)上之吸附、光化學與 CO2的交互 作用。比較參考CH3CH2CH2OH 和 CH3CH2CH2NH2在TiO2上的吸附型式後,2-乙醇胺在 35°的 TiO2
是以HOCH2CH2NH2和OCH2CH2NH2兩種結構吸附。CO2存在下,表面可生成 NHCOO-和NH3+官能 基以及HCO3-物種。OCH2CH2NHCOO-比HCO3-穩定。HOCH2CH2NH2/TiO2接受光照下(325nm),於 O2
存在時能產生NCO,CO2,OOCCH2NH2,HCONH2和HCOOH。OCH2CH2NH2/TiO2光照下,除了產
生NCO,也會有 H2O,HCOO 和含 C N 官能基的物種。

Adsorption and Decomposition of Monoethanolamine on Cu(100)

我們以程溫-反應/脫附法和反射-吸收紅外光譜研究 HOCH2CH2NH2 於 Cu(100)面上的吸附和分解反
應。單層和多層吸附分子分別於203 和 255 K 脫附。255 K 相當於脫附熱為 66.0 KJ/mol 。HOCH2CH2NH2
也會分解,並於~400 K 時,產生 H2O 和 H2。理論研究結果指出 HOCH2CH2NH2 可能先分解產生 -OCH2CH2NH2再轉變成HOCH2CH2N=。

HOCH2CH2NH2 為雙官能基分子,它的吸附和反應型態在不同的固態表面完 全顯示多樣化的表現。我們研究了此分子在單晶銅Cu(100)和二氧化鈦表面吸 附和化學反應。我們發現在銅上,HOCH2CH2NH2先斷鍵 O-H 鍵,生成 -OCH2CH2NH2,然後再轉變成 HOCH2CH2N=,此表面中間物再分解產生 H2 附件二

一、參加會議經過
I attended the 20th IUPAC Conference on Physical Organic Chemistry held in Korea(22-28 August, 2010). In the meeting, I gave a poster presentation with the title of Chemistry of 2-Iodoacetic Acid on Cu(100), showing the decomposition of 2-iodoacetic acid, formation of an interesting reaction intermediate CH2COO which has never been reported, and the reaction pathway of the intermediate on the single crystal surface. Several surface sensitive techniques were employed to study the reaction of 2-iodoacetic acid on Cu(100) in an ultrahigh vacuum chamber, including temperature-programmed reaction/desorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy.
Density functional calculations have been performed to obtain the optimized structures of the surface species and energetics of possible reaction paths. The primary reaction of 2-iodoacetic acid is found to be ICH2COOH→CH2COO by C-I and C-H bond dissociation at lower coverages. The CH2COO on Cu(100) 計畫編號 NSC 97-2113-M-006-004-MY2

higher temperatures. At higher coverages, the ICH2COOH is likely to decompose by the pathways of ICH2COOH→ICH2COO+H and ICH2COO+H→CH3COO+I at 400K.
二、與會心得
The ICPOC-20 conference covered different research areas including physical and analytical chemistry, environmental subject, nanomaterials, nanotechology, sensors and biotechnology etc, and provided a great opportunity for discussion and exchange of ideas. I discussed with Dr. Wang who is a professor of National University of Singapore and presented a theoretical result for dehydrogenation mechanism of Li-N-H hydrogen storage materials. His mechanism involves a H-transfer that may also be related to my recent study of decomposition of silsesquioxane eventually to silica after calcinations. I learned a lot in the meeting.

The International Conference on Physical Organic Chemistry is held every year. The 2010 meeting was organized very well, with four Nobel laureates giving the plenary lectures. It would be great that this kind of meeting will be held in our own country.

一、參加會議經過
I attended the 2010 International Chemical Congress held in Hawaii specifically for the scientists from the countries around the Pacific basin. I gave a poster presentation with the title of “Thermal
Decomposition of Poly(L-lactic acid) on TiO2” which was classified in the macromolecular section, showing an interesting comparison for the adsorption and reactions of poly(lactic acid) and of its monomer, lactic acid, on titanium dioxide. In situ transmission Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy has been employed for the study. Lactic acid (CH3CH(OH)COOH) is dissociatively adsorbed on TiO2 at 25℃. As the surface temperature is raised higher than 250℃ in a vacuum, propionate (CH3CH2COO)
as a major product is formed. However, acetate becomes the only surface species with simultaneous evolution of CO2 in the decomposition of lactic acid on TiO2 in the presence of oxygen. Poly(lactic acid) has the same reaction products as those from its monomer. Poly(lactic acid) adsorbed on TiO2 is
subjected to photodecomposition at ~320 nm in the presence of O2, generating the reaction products of CO2 and acetate.

scientists with the specialty of functional polymers to extend my knowledge in this field. It will be a great help for my future study. I also paid much attention to interfacial electrochemistry. I might perform this kind of studies in the near future.

This chemical congress was a very large conference. Different subjects are distributed to several hotels and one convention center. Some interesting talks collided each other in time. Probably these difficulties were not easy to be solved, due to a large number of participants.
