The Amazing Capilano Bridge
___________________________________________________________________________________
The Capilano Bridge in British Columbia, Canada, is one of the world’s longest suspension footbridges.
The bridge is 450 feet (137 m) long and rises 230 feet (70 m) above the Capilano River. The original wood and rope bridge was built in 1889 to help loggers cross the steep canyon. However, today only
adventure-seeking tourists attempt to cross the narrow, swinging bridge. Unlike the loggers, their goal is not to take trees away from the canyon but simply to enjoy Canadian nature. This bridge is an amazing sight to see.

Japan’s Incredible Snow Monkeys
Snow monkeys are interesting animals that live in Japan that have adapted in various ways to the cold winters in Japan. In the winter, they travel less and spend more time in hot springs to stay warm.
Thousands of tourists come to see all of the monkeys gathered in the springs. Many snow monkeys sleep in trees to avoid being buried by the heavy snow that can fall during the night. In addition, their very thick fur can protect them from extremely cold temperatures. Snow monkeys also change their diet during the winter. During warmer months, they eat fruits, seeds, young leaves, and other foods. When these foods are not available in winter, snow monkeys dig for roots or eat fish in the hot springs. These remarkable
changes allow snow monkeys to live farther north than any other monkeys in the world and make this animal one of the most interesting creatures on Earth.
Bears of the Arctic
Polar bears have unique bodies that help them live in the harsh weather of the Arctic. They are large animals that weigh up to 1,800 pounds. The body fat from all this weight helps keep them warm. Their heavy white fur not only protects them from icy winds but also helps them hide in the large piles of snow.
It snows a lot in the Arctic. The bears have five long sharp claws on each paw. They use these to walk safely on the ice and to catch their food. Polar bears are truly amazing creatures.
3. The concluding sentence.
The Sounds of Home
The things I always look forward to when I return home from college on holidays are the sounds: Together tell me that I am truly home. The first place I go when I come home is always the kitchen. The sound of coffee brewing tells me that all is well and that my mother is waiting to hear about my year away from home. Afterwards, I listen for the sound of the TV in the living room.
Whenever I hear it, no matter what program is on, I know my father is home and waiting to watch it with me. It may sound strange, but even the sound of my brother and sister’s constant arguing fighting is inviting. The bickering tells me nothing has change, and I hope it never does.
