The Composite CPI increased by 0.06% month-to-month. Higher airfares and growing charges for maintenance & repair of motor cars pushed up the price index of Transport. Meanwhile, price index of Clothing & Footwear recorded an obvious decrease on account of seasonal sales of adults' clothing and footwear.

For the 12 months ended August 2020, the average Composite CPI grew by 1.96% from the previous period (September 2018 to August 2019). The average Composite CPI for the first eight months of 2020 rose by 1.59% year-on-year.

The Composite CPI edged up by 0.03% year-on-year to 102.21, attributable to higher prices of fresh pork, increasing charges for eating out and outpatient services, as well as rising rentals for dwellings.
