(一) 試驗目的：
評估本中藥處方是否能為偏頭痛患者提供更為有效的治療 (二)方法：
採單盲對照組隨機研究試驗方式進行 (三)參與試驗可能獲得之效益：
(1) 頭痛頻率減少
(2) 頭痛程度減輕，且停藥後，效果仍可望持續。
(3) 急性頭痛期，服用有立即止痛作用。
(4) 不用額外負擔中藥費(一個療程約一萬元)
(四)可能產生之副作用及危險：
皮膚癢疹，或其他過敏現象發生率約 1%。腸胃不適
(五)目前其他可能之療法及其說明：
目前西藥治療選擇常見為：
(1) 止痛劑，如 panadol,Indomethacine、Naprofen,、ketoprofen 可立即止痛，但 會有腸胃刺激的問題，
(2) 血管收縮劑 ergotamine 類如 cafergot . Bellergal。可立即止痛，但有冠狀動脈 疾病，末稍血管循環不良者避免使用、孕婦禁用。
(3) Tripatan 類＝＞新藥。
(4) 其他抗憂鬱劑 .鎮定劑. Inderal 等。可預防再次頭痛發作。

ABSTRACT
Migraine is a painful, disabling, and common disorder and undermine health-related quality of life for many people, many clinical drug trial had been proven to be effective for migraine prevention, such as propranolol valproate amitriptyline
Methsergide ,but patients may complain of dizziness fatigue diarrhea… and so on before the prophylactic efficacy occured.
Natural drug had been looked as less side effect since long ago.
Among the Chinese herb drug , jia wei xiao yao san can improved the impairment livers function of free coursing and diminish liver fire flaming that attributed to emotion disturbance. So we designed this study to compare xiao yao san jia wei with placebo for use as prophylactic agent in Patients with migraine with or without aura.
After screening, a 4-week baseline period was followed by 8-week, single blind treatment period, then 4-week drug discontinuous phase.
During the 8-week treatment period, patients were given 5 500mg capsure of Xiao yao san jia wei or matching placebo. During the all course, patients diarized the frequeny of attacks, duration and intensity of migraine bouts as the international headache society suggests. Abortive therapy was permited if needed, but should be recorded.
370 patients were screened to be migraine with or without aura, only 55 patients agreed to entered the study, they were randomized to drug-treatment or placebo groups. The majority of these patients were women(46〔83.7%〕) with the mean age of approximately 33.2 years-old. Nine patients discontinued prematurely(16.4%) from the study, including 4 (14.8%)of 27 Xiao yao san jia wei-treated
patients and 5(16.4%) of 28 placebo-treated patients. At the last 4-week of stopping drug phase, the mean 4 -week migraine-attack day was 2.4 for Xiao yao san jia wei-treated patients and 5.4 for placebo-treated patients(p< 0.05),compared with 14.0 and
12.5 ,respectively, during the baseline period. Migraine turned to be more severe resulted in patient withdrow in 2 of 27 Xiao yao san jia wei-treated patients and 5 of for placebo-treated patients.
No side effect as dizziness, diarrhea, drug allergy was complained in both groups. 228(68.6%) patients among the 370 migraine
patients recognize emotion events can provoke bouts of migraine.
The result approves of our hypothesis that most migraine patients
had vexation or stagnated liver energy so their manifestation pattern may be binding depression of liver qi or liver fire flaming upward.
The conclusion of this study: chinese herb drug Xiao yao san jia wei is an effective prophylactic agent and well tolerated for patients with migraine.
