本研究透過數值模型,在與實測相似的空間尺度(field scale)下測試 TL07 理 論對於浮力驅動沿岸流厚度與寬度的預測情況,並指出 TL07 理論對寬度具有一 階(first order)的預測性,是由於零位渦度假設與兩層流體近似假設所產生之誤差 值𝐴0與誤差值𝐵0能夠大致上互相抵消導致。
在未來的工作上,為了確認 TL07 的理論確實存在本研究所提及的誤差值,
透過將河流初始的深度設為遠深於沿岸流厚度,我們可以建立一個近似零位渦外 流的數值實驗。根據本研究的結果,我們推論,在近零位渦外流的數值實驗中,
零位渦假設的誤差值𝐴0將會趨近於零,但是,TL07 理論對於沿岸流寬度預估的 誤差將會明顯增加,因為原本與兩層流體誤差值𝐵0相互抵銷的條件已消失。同理,
透過減少垂直混和(如改變 entrainment coefficient),我們可以建立近似兩層流體 的數值實驗,在此條件下,誤差值𝐵0將減少,而 TL07 理論的誤差將增加。
另一方面,本研究的未來工作也可從修正 TL07 的兩個主要誤差來源出發,
如以等位渦近似(constant PV; e.g. Whitehead 1985)取代零位渦假設、以連續分 層取代兩層流體近似(e.g. Moffat and Lentz 2012),藉由了解這些修正對沿岸流 結構可預測性的影響,應能對沿岸流的基本動力有更進一步的認識。
