jul..Ascii).

12. Click on the --> symbol to initiate the file transfer.

13. Set the Local Directory to c:\espdisks\maint1\lib.

14. Set the Remote Directory to /maint1/lib.

15. Select all the files shown in the Local Files display area and make sure the Binary soft button is displayed (this button toggles between Binary and Ascii).

16. Click on the --> symbol to initiate the file transfer.

17. Set the Local Directory to c:\espdisks\maint1.

18. Set the Remote Directory to /maint1.

19. Select all the files shown in the Local Files display area and make sure the Binary soft button is displayed (this button toggles between Binary and Ascii).

20. Click on the --> symbol to initiate the file transfer.

21. Set the Local Directory to c:\espdisks\maint2.

22. Set the Remote Directory to /maint2.

23. Select the file shown in the Local Files display area and make sure the Binary soft button is displayed (this button toggles between Binary and Ascii).

24. Click on the --> symbol to initiate the file transfer.

25. Switch to the AVOS Window

26. Initiate the EEPROM blast activity by typing: $avos {ENTER}

27. Do you wish to continue (y/n) y {ENTER}

28. When $$ prompt returns, type: $promdisk {ENTER}

29. Do you wish to continue (y/n): y {ENTER}

30. In each case the system will respond with a series of status messages as it carries out the activity of erasing the EEPROM devices and loading the files.

NRAM

Initializing and Loading /NRAM1 using FTP

NRAM is a sequential EEPROM block of memory used for the /APPL directories containing application software. It is normally set up as read only. This procedure should be used when installing a new MPRC board and will be a part of any upgrade procedure.

Note: This procedure will replace all existing files on the NRAM. If you do not want to remove these files, do not perform this procedure.

1. Connect the Service Workstation to the Scanning Platform via the PowerTerm Plus AVOS window using the default IP address 192.168.1.20.

2. With the MPRC diagnostic switch in the EXTEN DIAG position (up), press the RESET push button.

3. Reconnect the AVOS window using the default address (192.168.1.20) and type:

reset∆f

4. Reconnect the AVOS window using the address defined in netfile. Change the directory by typing:

cd∆/maint3/bin {ENTER}

5. Initialize the NRAM:

.∆bld_nram {ENTER} (this could take up to 15 min.) 6. Restart the system using the short startup routine.

reset∆1

7. Activate the FTP utility.

8. Click the Connect button to open the Connect dialog box.

9. Enter the MPRC’s IP address set up in netfile in the Host Name text box.

10. Click the dialog box’s Connect button.

11. Set the Local Directory to c:\espdisks\temp 12. Set the Remote Directory to /temp.

13. Select all the files shown in the Local Files display area and make sure the Binary soft button is displayed (this button toggles between Binary and Ascii).

14. Click on the symbol to initiate the file transfer.

15. Execute the following script to expand and distribute the libraries just loaded:

.∆/ss01/clm/expndftp {ENTER}

This will take approximately 6 to 10 minutes.

16. Set the MPRC Diagnostic Switch to the middle position.

17. Reset the system by typing: reset

SMI

Loading and Blasting SMI using FTP

1. From the AVOS window with the Diagnostics switch in the middle position, type:

reset∆1 {ENTER}

The system responds by initiating a Scanning Platform short startup. During this phase, certain checks will be performed and information about BRAM and the file system will be printed.

2. From the AVOS window, select Communications > Run FTP.

3. Set the FTP Client dialog box to connect to the desired Scanning Platform IP address and connect.

4. From the TCP window, set the Local Directory to c:\espdisks\ucbtm and set the Remote Directory to /ss01/smi. Select the file btc.b in the Local Files display and make sure the binary soft button is displayed.

5. Click on the -> symbol to initiate the file transfer.

6. At the AVOS prompt, blast the microcontrollers by typing:

cd∆/ss01/smi {ENTER}

ucblast {ENTER}

The console will display a list of the microcontrollers the utility has found in the system. Compare this list to the standard microcontroller assignments which are also printed out. If the list of microcontrollers found is not completed or is otherwise incorrect, select the abort option (No) and troubleshoot the problem.

If the list is correct, select “begin PROM programming”.

The utility will proceed to blast each microcontroller, checking for error conditions as it goes. If an error condition occurs, the utility will ask to either reblast, skip to the next microcontroller, or abort. Always select reblast at least once, then either abort or skip to the next microcontroller. Replace the defective microcontroller SMI board.

It is possible to load a single ECF/ECS/ECC board by including the slot address as an argument to the ucblast utility. For example: ucblast 0x1f, will only load the ECF board. The board slot assignments are as follows:

Slots -003 Backplane -004 Backplane

7. From the AVOS window, remove the btc.b library image if it exists by typing:

rm∆btc.b {ENTER}

8. From the AVOS window prompt with the Diagnostic Switch in the middle position, type:

reset {ENTER}

If the system configuration has not been performed, you will see the following error message at the conclusion of loading the libraries and images:

Community: p@appl_start, unable to read initialization file:

/ss01/clm/appl.ini

This message indicates that a configuration session is required.
