More and more users access it to locate information. Many institutions also start publishing electronic newspapers. Since the electronic newspaper is still at its beginning stage, most of them are primitive and may not be able to satisfy the users’ needs. In order to design a good electronic newspaper, we must integrate the notion of communicate technology and communication theories. The purpose of this study is to integrate these two aspects for designing electronic newspapers. Based on theoretical analysis of communication theory and reviewing existing literatures, an integrated architecture of electronic newspaper design is proposed. The features of electronic newspapers in Taiwan will also be compared to show the situation nowadays. Keywords electronic newspaper, integrated architecture, mass communication theory, information technology.
