When first started, a user will be asked to provide you basic info for mentor matching. The user is required to link their account to a .edu mail address to verify their identity.
To find a mentor, the application will filter potential candidates based on the user's requirements.
Since the list could be long and tedious, we implemented mini games as the "random"
functionality. Depending on the candidate chosen, the user may need to solve challenges
presented by the candidate in order to acquire them as a mentor. The content of the challenges is made at the discretion of the mentors, who can use it to filter out unwanted people.
Once the challenge is solved, if any, the user will be able to contact the mentor in the messenger part of our application.
Any user may become a mentor by setting up the criteria for searching and optionally create a set of question as active filters.
For one-off miscellaneous questions and discussions that are opinion-based in nature, the forum is where they go to. In addition to pre-defined categories, the questions may also be tagged (not yet implemented) for easier filtering. Additionally, users who are willing to share their knowledge can also post without being asked, so that they don't need to wait until someone does. Answers to a question on the forum can be rated and marked as the best by forumites, and users can follow a particular question in order to receive notifications.
We also provide news and event advertisement from our partners in the relevant fields.
