(2) Industrial Development and Japanese Business Management ---- The Analysis of Japanese Particularism Ijsien-Tiung Lin. Abstract After the World WarII, tremendous researches had been focused on the management style of Japanese business. The answer to the specificity of Japanese management is "The Theory of Japanese Business Management". Although there are a few criticisms with regard to the style of Japanese management. a common belief is that Japanese business still retains tradional way of business management as in the old time before industrialization. This is what we are call "Japanese Particularism". This paper describes the Japan's economic development from the postwar period to the corruption of bubble economy using the order of time sequence. Through the review of related references, the issue of Japanese particularism is discussed. As a fact, the emergence of Japanese particularism was due to the downward promotion of the government in the period of the Meiji restoration, which marked the beginning of Japan's modernization. The factors which constitute Japanese paticularism are principles of consortium, clan, and common living unit. Although Japanese management derives from Japanese particularism. But it builds up the model of the bestmanagement style in the world. So, it has the characteristics of the universalism. Following the history of Japan's economy, the transitions of economic development in Japan reveal the uncertainty with regard to the contribution of Japanese particularism to the business management.. Key Words: Industrial Development. Japanese Business Management, Japanese Particularism.
