The United Nations has been sharing World Happiness Report since 2012, and the report of 2019 is finally here, before World Happiness Day on March 20th. Everyone is excited to see which country among the 165 countries in the world is the happiest this year.

This year, Finland is at the top. It’s followed by Denmark, Norway, Iceland and the Netherlands. The report ranks countries on six key elements that support well-being: income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity. And the top 10 countries tend to rank high in all six elements.

People in the happiest countries are more likely to have longer lives, have more social supports, and have more freedom to make life choices, and so on. On the other hand, people in the least happy countries are in a totally different story. They live shorter lives and have fewer life choices. Many of them are poor. Their negative emotions, worry, sadness and anger, has also increased.

The report is also sending important messages. It tells people that being a happy country doesn’t mean it has to make lots of money. If people are generous and like to share, they are more likely to feel happy. For example, people in Finland are happier than other countries, and their immigrants are also the happiest ones in the world. They pay high taxes for a social safety, but they trust their government. They live in freedom and they are generous with each other. It’s the kind of place people want to live.

If you’re revising for an exam, what assists you to remember things? Memory plays an important role during this time. Memory is ability to encode, store and recall information but amount of elements can affect people’s memory, like health, mood, pressure and tiredness. That’s why it’s important to have a good sleep while you’re reviewing for exams.

Different people have different ways to remember facts. According to studies, there are three different styles to memorize things; they are visual, auditory and kinaestheic which means learning by doing and practicing something again and again. But recently a new study has come up with an idea that might be the best way to improve your memory- drawing. Depending on the UK study, drawing something makes you create a picture in your mind about what it is, how you use it and where it is used. As Dr. O’Connor, the professor of psychology at the University of Leeds, said that when you draw you are encoding something in a greater level of detail, more than just writing things down.

Of course this is just one more way to improve your memory. Why don’t you try to find the ways you prefer to?
