ABSTRACT

Because of the information technology is getting more and more important, many studies focus on the information technology related courses. But Harris and Katz'(1991) study doesn't prove that the more investment in information technology, the better efficientcy organization would get.The most important thing is to know what kind of information technology a department need. The study wants to know whether the departments in the same business level would have the same information technology need;and whether the MIS department and the operation departments have different recognition in information technology. The results of study are: 1.

The departments in the same business level do not have completely the same information technology need. For national bank, saving and loan department need the data and application information technology more, the computing and communication information technology is the most important technology for credit department. And the saving and loan department are more satisfied with the information technology they obtained than the credit department did. 2. When MIS and operation department have the better recognition in information between MIS and operation department. 3. The study also found that if the operation department more involve in designing the information system will let the MIS department have better recognition in what information technology the operation department need.
