Public Economics (II)

一、 教學目標：
In this course, we intend to introduce public choice and political economics application into public sector economics. We will first review some reasons for government intervention in economic activities , and examine public goods theories. We will then study the basics of public choice, and introduce some simple models of political competition, and consider the incentives and constraints of politicians and interest groups. Also, we will then consider the question of redistribution and taxation policy from a political economy perspective.
Knowledge pre-required: basic game-theoretic skills

- Various voting models: median voter theorem, Downsian model, Probabilistic voting

- General transfers - Special interest polities

Midterm exam (40%),final exam(40%),homework and /or presentation(20%)
