Among American teenage boys, the most popular type of movie is the “horror film.”

The aim of these films is to “horrify” their audience, but to do it in such an entertaining way that the audience will happily pay money to be horrified.

There are typical scenes in most of these films: evil spirits enter into people’s bodies, dead human bodies return to life, hairy monsters with green eyes frighten people in the dark, and pretty girls scream as they run away from horrible creatures that eat people. At the same time, the audience screams and covers their eyes; they often look as though they hate being there, but in fact they love it. When the next horror film is released, they will be first in line to buy their tickets.

The horror film was truly one of the earliest types of films to be offered to the public.

“Nosferatu” was a silent film about a vampire, a creature and sleeps in a coffin during the day and comes out at night to bite people on the neck and drink their blood. Recent popular horror films are “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Halloween”. There are even magazines for horror film fans, with pictures and interviews of the stars.
