Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP1.12 billion and MOP15.39 billion in July, up by 5.2% and 111.7% respectively year-on-year.

Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP14.27 billion.

In the first seven months of 2021, merchandise export rose by 29.5% year-on-year, with re-exports and domestic exports increasing by 29.8% and 27.9%

respectively; meanwhile, merchandise import soared by 143.6%. External merchandise trade surged by 127.4% year-on-year to MOP97.04 billion.

Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP81.39 billion, an increase of MOP50.80 billion from MOP30.59 billion a year earlier.

Analysed by destination, merchandise export to mainland China (MOP1.17 billion), Hong Kong (MOP5.48 billion) and the USA (MOP385 million) in the first seven months of 2021 expanded by 23.1%, 33.6% and 33.4% respectively year-on-year. By place of origin, merchandise import from mainland China (MOP29.65 billion), the EU (MOP27.82 billion) and Switzerland (MOP7.70 billion) leapt by 127.3%, 188.7% and 343.3% respectively year-on-year.
