本課程這學期被選為「台大開放式課程」錄影計劃的一部分，所以上課會有 專人錄影。經過後期製作之後，連同講義，會一併放在「台大開放式課程」網頁 上供有興趣人士免費下載學習。
這門課是希望把幽默〔或是笑、（冷）笑話、搞笑、詼諧〕當成一種日常生 活的社會現象並且從社會學〔特別是社會學理論〕的觀點加以深入的研究。請注 意：這是一門學術課程，而非「幽默(或搞笑或笑話)訓練班」；同學最好具備社 會學或是社會學理論的基礎，否則願意努力學習者，也歡迎研修本課程。但請千 萬不要把這門課當成輕鬆的笑話，否則您的學期成績將成為您這學期的一大難忘
「笑話」。君子自重，非誠勿擾。
本課程是從人際關係、社會制度和文化比較的社會學角度來探討幽默或是笑話的 現象。首先會討論和幽默相關的概念和研究路徑。然後課程主要分成三大部份：
第一部份從古今中外的人類歷史來檢視著名的「笑話選集」、「幽默事件」以及 相關的理論；第二部份則從社會學理論的角度來研究幽默和人際互動以及社會文 化結構的關聯；第三部分則探討幽默和社會生活幾個主要層面的關係。
根據過去的教學經驗，本課程進行的方式是以同學收集的笑話開場，讓同學 了解最近笑話或幽默的趨勢。接著才由老師上課以及解答同學上課或閱讀時所碰 到的疑惑。本課程視情況考慮讓同學在課堂上作分組報告。
有意選修本課程的同學，除了應該出席上課之外，還要完成所規定的大大小 小作業。此外，也希望同學能時時刻刻觀察身邊的幽默和笑話現象，以便能將上 課所學用於實際生活之中。
本課程雖然開設過幾次，但是隨著過去的經驗和本學期新出現的情況會有所 調整改變，一切以我上課宣佈的為準，所以請同學務必堂堂出席，以便了解本課 程的授課內容及作業規定。
二、作業規定【選課前請特別仔細考量自己是否能夠並願意遵守】
這門課程希望同學除了要準時上課之外，閱讀指定教材以及認真完成指定的 大小作業也是重要的評分標準。
本課程的小作業數量不定，要看老師上課時和課程相關的程度而指定，請同 學務必注意課堂上老師的最新規定。
本課程學期成績根據下列的表現，並請注意每個作業的老師的用心所在，不 要「自以為是」，也不要「敷衍了事」：
1 「我為甚麼選修這門課」短文一篇，讓老師了解同學的自我期待和對本 課程的期待。
2 「笑話採集」：同學應訪問三位身邊的親友或同學，請教他們最喜歡的 三個笑話，記載其內容，並略為分析這些親友的社會身分和他們喜歡的 笑話之間的關聯，最後提出自己喜歡的三個笑話。請記住：一定要有分 析，不能只列十二個笑話了事。
3 讀書心得：請選定授課大綱或進度中所列名之書籍兩本，寫出該書內容 的精華以及您的心得；兩者的比重應該略微相同，至少心得不得少於內 容摘要。心得部份要注意參考老師上課的說法。請勿選取課程指定之外 的任意書籍當成作業。請注意「引用」和「抄襲」﹝沒有註明出處的引 用﹞之間的差別。
4 集體作業：同學應該和其他上課同學合作，計劃完成一項對於幽默相關 的校園活動報告﹝具體內容上課會公佈﹞。課程的最後一個月可能會抽 出四組作課堂報告。每組成員以四人為原則，不可單獨作此作業。每組 作業必須說明各自負責的部分。希望同學能藉此作業養成團隊合作的精 神，而不是打混摸魚。
5 認識同學：每個人要和上課的其他所有同學聊天，以自定的、和本課程 相關的三個問題為主，並記下對方的談話內容。
6 上課時老師規定下周要交的小作業。
7 期末考﹝上課會說明﹞
8 檢查講義﹝講義由本人精新製作，過去有許多同學都不來上課也不拿講 義，造成講義印製的浪費，為了同學能確實領取講義，所以才有這項規 定﹞
本課程並不採取單項作業百分比記分，而是每項作業都是以「通過」與「不通 過」記分。凡是有任一項作業「不通過」者，學期成績一律以「不通過」論。這 點和許多課程要求不同，請同學選修前多與考慮，不要到學期末才說自己不知道。
如果作業被發現是抄襲的，絕對以不及格論處，沒得商量。
集體作業如果有打混摸魚者，該生以不及格論處，沒得商量。
以上作業要求如有變更，會在課堂上宣佈，屆時以新規定為主。
有關作業方面的規定，以本人說法為準，如有疑惑，請及時向本人查詢。道聽塗 說，與本人無關。別以為有些作業是老師開玩笑而不做。

根據過去的教學經驗，這個預定進度會和事實的有差距。如果有改變，會事 前在上課中說明。
四、主要參考書目
這門課程是從社會學角度研究幽默，而不是從文學、邏輯或是心理學的角度，
所以在參考書目的選擇上會有不同的考量。因為市面上的書籍沒有和本人的教學 理念完全配合者，所以並不推薦任何教科書，我會親自製作講義供同學上課參考。
但是和課程相關的相關文章或書籍，會在講義中提及，同學應自行找來閱讀。學 貴自得，不要老師逼著念。
由於英國作者較多，所以書名上幽默這個英文字都是採用英式拼法。有些書 籍有中文譯本，學生當然可以參考閱讀，不過請小心在翻譯過程中所可能產生的 語意落差。我是強烈建議各位讀原文的。英文書大概在圖書館都找得到，台灣賣 英文書的書店未必有賣；中文繁體字書則在學校附近書店都可購得；中文簡體字 版的書則在學校附近賣大陸書的書店可以碰碰運氣。大陸有些網站有些掃描好圖 檔的書，找不到實體書時，也不失為參考的途徑。不過，奉勸有志向學的同學應 該養成平常就有購書的習慣，臨時抱佛腳到圖書館或書店或上網找書畢竟不是讀 書的好辦法。

幽默社會學授課進度
以下是預定的授課進度，內容和日期會隨著實際上課進行而有所更正，請同 學特別注意。
第1 周 9 月 9 日 課程簡介
因為這堂課會說明本人上課的理念以及一些作業的規定，甚至會出一些小作 業讓同學會去作，下周要交，所以通常沒上過第一堂的人是沒有加簽的機會的。
請同學務必衡量自己本學期修課的情況，決定要遵守本人課程的規定才選修 這門課，千萬不要選了之後不知珍惜，造成教學資源和自己青春﹝老師已經沒有 青春了﹞的浪費。
第2 周 9 月 16 日 幽默社會學的基本問題
本周開始介紹幽默社會學的一些基本問題。每個老師上課其實都有自己的想 法，所以同學應該特別留心老師的規定，衡量自己的狀況，再考慮選修與否的問 題。
