Course Description &Objectives:

English Broadcasting Skills is a basic elective aimed at introducing the sophomore students to enhance the broadcasting skills of English media. The focus of the class will be on comprehension, analysis, and presentation of English print and broadcast news. The course will begin with the “news writing”, covering topics such as story structure, headlines and endings, using examples from English newspapers, magazines or online materials for illustration. In addition to materials readings, “Anchor’s Time” “talk show” and “press conference” will be held, in which students will be assigned an area of news (e.g., politics, world, sports, entertainment) to cover and discuss with peers and each group will be recorded by the digital camera. By the end of the semester, the class will be recorded a “20-minute current affairs broadcast news program” with participation from each student. Upon completion of the course, it is expected that the students will not only have the ability to comprehend a variety of English broadcast materials, but also be familiar with the broadcasting forms in our daily lives. .
