ABSTRACT
This paper gives a summary of the content, developing background and limitation of urban and political economics of various doctrines. Through examining these doc- trines, we conclude that urban and political economics at present should contain three parts: urban economics, urban problem and urban policy.
Next, we analyze the content of these three parts in detail. Facing the current problems in large cities over the world, we examine the suitability of the fundamental concepts raised by these doctrines. Finally, we point out the rule from which urban economics and problems can draw. We also propose the conditions to be met as modern urban policies.
