The Design and Evaluation of Instructional Sign Language Online System 余旭豐、宋明弘

ABSTRACT
According to the statistics of Ministry of the Interior, the population of people with hearing or language impairment is more than 90,000, taking the 2nd place in all of the disabled ones. In view of the factors mentioned above, this research takes advantage of the relevant skills of assistive technology to construct a set of instructional online system for the purpose of aiding sign language learning.
This research is proceeded by doing extended literature review and interviewing some professionals in this field. Accordingly, the topic and the main concerns of this development system are established, and then the set of computer aid instructional system, through which learners can acquire knowledge independently on the Internet, is developed. After setting up the online system, the analysis of satisfaction by questionnaires is conducted, and it is up to 0.8 or above. In brief, the major contributions of this paper are as follows： (1) Constructing the online data system for the convenience of offering some consultation and correction for sign language (2) Making use of the Internet to increase the opportunities for sign language learning so as to promote the effectiveness of sign language acquisition
