As the awareness for environment protection and energy consevation rises, the energy-efficient LED street light were introduced in many
countries to replace the tradional light sources. However, compare to the traditional street lights, the cost of LED street light is still too
expensive.Calculating the dollar values of either the maintenance or
energy savings between traditional and LED luminaires is at present only a theoretical exercise. Referred to the lighting demostration project
conducted under the U.S. Department of Energy GETEWAY Demonstration
Program, we build up an economic performance assessment model of Taiwan.
Finally, recommendations are made to both the government and manufacturers for the future palnning of replacement of LED street light.
