IACMR 自 2002 開辦以來,迄今已成為世界規模最大的華人管理研究學會,

每隔兩年( 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010)所辦理的雙年會,規模越來越大。台灣地區 是否也能組織類似國際級學會,值得考量。

Abstract

Does subordinate loyalty always lead to supervisor benevolence?

It depends on the supervisor’s altruism and the perceived organizational support.

This study investigates the relationship between the subordinate’s loyalty and the supervisor’s benevolent behaviors in Chinese organizations as well as looks at the boundary conditions of the above relationship. We examine two supervisor-related moderators: the supervisor’s altruism and perceived organizational support (POS).

Using survey research, we obtained data from supervisor-subordinate dyads in Taiwan and had 168 valid observations for hypothesis testing. The results of hierarchical regressions show that the subordinate’s loyalty to the supervisor positively relates to the supervisor’s benevolent behaviors to the subordinate.

However, this relationship is diminished by the supervisor’s altruism and POS.

Specifically, when the supervisor has a high altruistic tendency or a high level of POS, the supervisor displays benevolent behaviors to subordinates regardless of their

loyalty. We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of our study findings.
