第二節 特悌斯對中提琴音樂的影響

於上述文章中,可體認到特悌斯一生的貢獻與推廣,對中提琴的音樂影響深遠。在

特悌斯剛接觸中提琴時,便無法自拔的愛上這項樂器,並且自此致力於將中提琴的能力

推向獨奏樂器的地位:

"When I reached the age of nineteen a fellow violin student came to me with the suggestion that I should take up the viola. He wanted to form a string quartet, and there was not one viola student at the Academy! So casual was my discovery of my mission in life, of that beautiful, soon-to-be-loved viola, to which I was to devote the rest of my days."4

因為特悌斯證明了中提琴也能有優秀的獨奏表現,所以有許多作曲家開始寫作樂曲

題獻給他,同時特悌斯也積極邀約作曲家(特別是英國作曲家)為中提琴譜曲,使得中提
